About
About Frank Bonsal III
I am a tech VC that specializes in education investing. I joined New Markets as a Partner in 2007 and am the lead partner and serve as Board Director for Questar Assessment, Inc.
For ten years, I was a Partner of Bonsal Capital, a family office construct founded by NEA Co-Founder Frank Bonsal, Jr., and was a Managing Partner of Education Capital, an education-centric boutique advisory firm. For Bonsal Capital, I managed the firm’s education investments and worked in tandem with Bonsal Jr. in numerous direct and indirect investments across a multitude of sectors over the last decade. Per my legacy duties to Bonsal Capital, I remain a Board Director for Moodlerooms, Inc. and share board observer rights at Spectrum K12 School Solutions and Veran Medical Technologies. Prior to Bonsal Capital, I was a K-12 practitioner with over 15 years experience across seven states and three countries.
As part of what rounds out my service-oriented persona, I serve as a Trustee of Garrison Forest School, Holderness School, and the Irvine Nature Center. I also serve on the President’s Advisory Council of Stevenson University as well as a variety of grant and education industry-related panels and committees, most notably the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Education Division of the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA). I recently served as Alumni Board President and Member of the Campaign Steering Committee for Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College.
I am an Honors graduate of the University of New Hampshire, where I majored in English Teaching, and received Master of Education and MBA degrees from Vanderbilt University. I am married and have three children.
